Night out with Gladys
We went to the Gladys Knight concert at Tuachan on Friday night. She has to be in her late 60's and she hasn't lost a thing. She can still belt out those tunes like it was 1975. She even had a "Pip" with her....her brother. They kind of did cool little comedy routine and then he sang a song pretty good. The concert was only about an hour and 15 minutes but it was real good.
We went to a new restaurant on Saturday evening. It was a combination art gallery and steakhouse. I was an upper end restaurant that had appetizer and desert fondues and then cooked your entree on a stone in front of you. Pretty cool and very good...just a little pricey.
We had such a busy week that we kind of took it easy on the weekend. Enjoy the photos and the video.

Cold as Ice
Sue and I went to the Foreigner concert last night at Tuachan. We have been having some great weather out here... in the upper 70's...until of course....yesterday. It actually snowed and hailed around here most of yesterday. By concert time the snow and rain had subsided and the temperature rose to a 'balmy" 46 degrees. So appropriately, their song. "Cold as Ice" proved to be the anthem for the evening.
It was seriously one of the best concerts that I have been to...and in my time....I've been to plenty of good one. I, of course, forgot my camera, so I had to rely on my camera phone...enjoy these grainy photos and my first attempt at a video with it. It really was a great night. We finally got home around 10:45pm. Loads of frigid fun.

Busy Easter Weekend
This past weekend was ultra busy. Saturday started out with a ward calendering activity at our house with all of our auxiliary leaders. We had a nice breakfast for everyone then scheduled the entire year.
After that we visited with Jimmy & Hollie then Chris and Alicia. Sue bought some cute stuff to make Easter baskets with. The kids loved them.
After that we went to the annual Easter Art Festival downtown. It was really nice. Lots of artists from all over the West. We bought a real nice Al Rounds print of the early years of the St. George Temple and an optical crystal sculpture of Jerry Anderson's "Come Unto Me" sculpture. We're putting it in the area we have set aside for our ancestor photos and memorabilia. It is really awesome and is lighted by led lights. check it out at:

We then went to the Stake center for some baptisms and then had an Eagle Court of Honor" for the first ever Eagle Scout from our ward.
Easter Sunday was really nice and spiritual. We had our Fast & Testimony meeting and it was great. When we got home, Sue cooked a Turkey dinner with all of the fixins...mmmmm good!
It was a very busy, but great weekend.

Ward Farm Experience
All of the bishops in the Washington Utah East Stake were asked by our Stake President to see if they could find some land to develop a ward garden/farm. I brought the idea up in our Ward Council meeting and our HP Group Leader found us some land at Staheli Farms. Our 1st Counselor, Terry Kelvington, negotiated with the farmer and we were able to land almost 4000 sq ft to use as our ward farm. It cost us only $120 for the year plus the cost of seeds. Water and tilling/furrowing is included.
I have been asking our members to strive to become a Zion Society since I was made their Bishop In January. We challenged our members to come and work at the farm as a ward service project and if there was any vegetables then that would be a bonus. We called the ward to action and they repsonded. We had over 100 people show up for the "planting activity". We were able to plant all 4000 sq ft in only 1 hour. It was a great activity. The ward really came together.
I also challenged the ward to donate $500 to the farm by using the weekly tithing slips and entering their donations under "other" and put in "ward farm"...once again, the ward responded.
It's not too late for any of our family members to share this info with their ward leaders and try to do the same. Enjoy the photos. Go Coral Canyon 1st Ward.
